Coming Together LIVE-5 was honestly one of the most impactful experiences of my life. If I had to describe the week in one sentence, I would say this: the Holy Spirit was evident.

People came from all different backgrounds and life experiences, but we all came with the same desire to grow closer to Jesus and experience healing, restoration, and genuine community. What impacted me most was how real everyone was. The testimonies were honest, vulnerable, and full of hope. Nobody was pretending to have it all together, and I think that is what made the love of Jesus shine so brightly throughout the week.

Coming Together LIVE is not just focused on one struggle or one type of person. Throughout the week there were conversations and workshops surrounding sexual integrity, identity, pornography addiction, abortion recovery, trauma, relationships, and learning how to walk closely with Jesus in every area of life. Everyone was welcomed with compassion while still being pointed back to truth and identity in Christ.

Some of the most meaningful moments happened outside the meetings too. Through worship, prayer, meals together, laughter, and late night conversations, strangers quickly started to feel like family.

I truly believe God is continuing to use this ministry and these live events in a powerful way. Coming Together LIVE-6 is not just another conference. It is a place where people can encounter the love of Jesus, experience authentic fellowship, and be reminded that freedom, healing, and restoration are possible through Christ. No matter your background or story, you are welcome.

Camp Meeting Encounter

Recently, at a camp meeting, I experienced one of those moments that reminds me exactly why God called me into this ministry.

As I was standing at our booth, a young man approached me with a smile that immediately caught my attention. At first, I didn't recognize him. A few years had passed since we had last spoken, and he had grown into a confident young man, now sporting a mustache and carrying himself with a sense of peace that was impossible to miss.

As we began talking, he reminded me of our earlier conversations. When we first met, he was struggling deeply with same-sex attraction and the lingering effects of a molestation he had experienced in the past. The trauma had awakened attractions and desires that felt both unwanted and overwhelming. At the same time, he was surrounded by voices telling him that these feelings defined who he was and that he had been born this way. While he was searching for answers, he was also apprehensive about embracing an identity that did not bring him peace.

During those conversations, we talked honestly about the challenges he was facing. I shared with him the hope of Christ's cleansing power and the reality that God never abandons us in our struggles. I explained that he had a difficult decision before him, but that God would be present to help him no matter what he chose. Victory was available, but it would require a willingness to surrender his life fully to Christ and walk with Him daily.

I could tell that he was guarded. At times, he seemed afraid to be seen talking with me. Yet whenever we had the opportunity to speak, I wanted him to know one thing above all else: God could give him victory over anything. More than any earthly identity or label, what his heart longed for was a deep and intimate connection with the One who created him and loved him enough to die for him on the cross.

Standing there at the booth this year, listening to him share what God had done in his life, I was overwhelmed with gratitude. He spoke about the freedom and victory he was experiencing. He described the newness of life that had come through surrendering himself completely to Christ. There was joy in his voice and confidence in his testimony. What was especially inspiring was his desire to encourage others who may be facing similar struggles. Having experienced God's transforming power for himself, he now wanted others to know that the same hope was available to them.

Moments like these are impossible to put into words fully. To witness God working in someone's life, bringing healing where there was once pain and hope where there was once confusion, is one of the greatest privileges I have ever known. Seeing this young man thriving in his relationship with Christ was a beautiful reminder that no one is beyond the reach of God's grace.

His testimony also reminded me why I continue to do what I do through Coming Together Ministries. The most fulfilling part of this work is not the travel, the speaking engagements, or the programs we create. It is watching God's power transform lives. It is seeing people discover that Christ is still in the business of restoring hearts, renewing minds, and giving victory where many believe none is possible.

As I reflected on our conversation, my heart was filled with gratitude—not only for what God had done in this young man's life, but for the privilege of witnessing it. Stories like his remind us that the gospel is not merely information; it is transformation. Jesus is still changing lives, and it is an incredible joy to watch Him work.

Q: “How do we as a church relate to those identifying themselves as gay Christians but not living the gay lifestyle?”

A: “In short, we are to love them unconditionally, pray for them without ceasing; welcome them into our places of worship as souls needing salvation from sin, just like anyone else; accept them into the school of discipleship on condition of their willingness to be transformed into the image of Christ, as with all sinners (Romans 12:2). However, baptism and membership should be reserved for those who are willing to “bring forth fruits meet for repentance” (Matthew 3:8).

“Fruits meet for repentance”, according to the dictionary, means, “to respond to a situation with a particular type of behavior.” The Bible calls for acceptable fruit, suitable fruit, demonstrating transformation of character and lifestyle. The church and the world need to see a change of course in one’s life before bringing that person into church membership with voting rights and eligibility to hold church office.

If a person wants to identify as a “gay Christian”, then where is the evidence of discipleship, and a willingness to accept reproof, correction, and instruction from the Scriptures as found in 2 Timothy 3:16, 17? If a person identifies as a “gay Christian” not practicing the gay lifestyle, then why identify as gay?

Actually, the term “gay Christian” is an oxymoron. It makes no more sense than the adding of any other prefix or qualifier to the name Christian such as incestuous, polygamist, sex offender, pedophile, drug addict, alcoholic, smoker, kleptomaniac, liar, ad infinitum.”
